The Reduction of CO2Emission Allowances from January 2008 - consequences for the cement industry
Paradoxally, the cement industry that as one of the first in Poland before the 1st of May 2004 complied with the European Union standards, is currently facing the problem caused by the functioning of the CO2 European Trading Scheme.

New EU Members are not satisfied with EU ETS
The EU climate policy is without any sense in the situation when each produced ton of cement has to be complemented by another imported. The same problem concerns also steel, glass, lime and chemistry. All savings generated by ecological investments in our cement plants are in vain while Poland has to import the missing part of building materials for the planned structural investments.

Revolution in the EU law
Penalty of imprisonment for 1 to 10 years, and, with respect to economic entities - penalties from EUR 300,000 to EUR 1.5 million – these are the sanctions threatening for commitment of crimes against the environment, provided in the draft Directive of the European Parliament and Council concerning environmental protection through penal law.
